Labor Contract Negotiation

In today’s environment of difficult labor contracts, the Meyner Center can be a valuable asset to a municipality with either the negotiation of a new labor contract or the negotiation of an expiring contract.  

We can assist the municipality in a number of ways:

  • meeting with the elected board and manager to identify strategies and issues of importance to the municipality
  • the fact-to-face negotiation of the contract either alone or with a committee of the municipality
  • background collection of data and information, such as salary and benefit surveys
  • identification of key issues of importance to the municipality
  • direction and guidance on the best practices of labor contract negotiation

Meyner Center assistance with labor contract negotiations include:

Middletown Township, Bucks County (2023): Police Collective Bargaining Agreement analysis for the Township.

Slate Belt Regional Police (2014): During June-December, the Center helped the Slate Belt Regional Police Commission to negotiate its collective bargaining agreement.

Associate Director Nicole Beckett has 21 years of experience in municipal management in northeast Pennsylvania, including 12 years as the Borough Manager in Lehighton, where she managed a full-service municipality with a total budget of $20 million. Her experience in municipal government provides her with an excellent background to assist municipalities in managerial recruitment, administrative studies, financial analysis, and preparation of strategic plans.  She understands the culture of municipal government and the importance of the services provided by efficient and productive management personnel who work closely with the elected board.
