The Meyner Center provides selected administrative services, which have included:
Pennsylvania Municipal Electric Association (2008-present): The Center has been providing professional consulting and administrative services to PMEA and organized and facilitated the annual, three-day conference of the 35 Pennsylvania municipalities that are in the public power (i.e., electricity) business. The conference was held in September 2017 in State College, and was attended by approximately 100 municipal managers, electric superintendents, and consultants/vendors.
Assistance to Northampton County to Implement Earned-Income Tax-Collection Law (2009-present): Pursuant to a 2008 state law requiring centralized earned-income tax collections in each Pennsylvania county, the Center, since October 2009, has provided advice and administrative services to the Northampton County Tax Collection Committee, which was created to implement the law and consists of 37 municipalities and 8 school districts. The committee oversees the centralized collection of earned-income taxes in Northampton County.
Assistance to Lehigh County to Implement Earned-Income Tax-Collection Law (2011-present): Pursuant to a 2008 state law requiring centralized earned-income tax collections in each Pennsylvania county, the Center, since March 2011, has provided advice and administrative services to the Lehigh County Tax Collection Committee, which was created to implement the law and consists of 25 municipalities and 9 school districts. The committee oversees the centralized collection of earned-income taxes in Lehigh County.
Local Non-Profit Organization Official Retreat (2015): The Center facilitated a one-day retreat for officers of the Greater Easton Development Partnership.
Pottstown (2015): The Center provided administrative services to the Borough of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, in its program to consolidate its volunteer fire departments.
Bethlehem Fire Relations (2012-2014): The Center facilitated meetings of the Bethlehem Fire Relations Committee.
Easton Area Neighborhood Center Retreat (2013). In February, the Center facilitated an evaluative retreat for the board and staff to strengthen organizational accountability and effectiveness.
Pottstown Fire Consolidation (2013): The Center facilitated meetings of pertinent elected officials and fire personnel to develop a consolidation plan to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
Bethlehem Township Fire Reorganization (2013): The Center helped the township implement the recommendations of a fire reorganization study.
Associate Director Nicole Beckett has 21 years of experience in municipal management in northeast Pennsylvania, including 12 years as the Borough Manager in Lehighton, where she managed a full-service municipality with a total budget of $20 million. Her experience in municipal government provides her with an excellent background to assist municipalities in managerial recruitment, administrative studies, financial analysis, and preparation of strategic plans. She understands the culture of municipal government and the importance of the services provided by efficient and productive management personnel who work closely with the elected board.
