Information listed below is to give students a taste of different municipal occupations that may begin their own professional life.

The Meyner Center for the Study of State and Local Government sponsors an Internship Program that links students and local governments to provide real-world experiences for students and assets for staffing and program needs of local governments. The Center acts as a facilitator for the students and local government entities.

Daniel Gonzalez ’19, worked with the Bethlehem Township planning director on updating the township’s MS4 and GPS programs (Summer 2019).

Tiger Luo ’20, worked with the Borough of Sellersville to assist with utility locations in the field (Summer 2019).

Madeline Squarcia ’22 and Teresa Reichman ’20, worked in Lower Macungie Township to assist with their MS4 programs (2019).

Student Internships (2018):

Claire Swanson ’19, worked with the Bethlehem Township planning director on updating the township’s MS4 and GPS programs (January 2018).

Simon Weisman ’18, worked with the Upper Uwchlan Township assistant manager to analyze the township’s parks and recreation fee schedule (January 2018).

Collin Raysor ’19, worked with the East Whiteland Township manager to complete an analysis of the township’s property-inspection program (January 2018).

Matthew Kovaleski ’21, worked with the Upper Saucon Township planning director to assist with GIS mapping, field work, and research (Summer 2018).

Student Internships (2017):

In cooperation with the Gateway Career Center, the Center operates a student internship program for municipalities in the Lehigh Valley and suburban Philadelphia. Students were placed in paid, summer internships in Bethlehem Township, Upper Macungie, North Whitehall, and Lower Macungie Township. Students also were placed in paid, January internships in Bethlehem Township, Upper Uwchlan Township, and East Whiteland Township. Three summer interns were featured in “A Summer on the Town” in the Lafayette News, November 20, 2017.
