The Meyner Center's Local Government Internship Program has connected Lafayette students with Pennsylvania municipalities for ten years.

Our role is to serve as the conduit between students ready to learn and communities with real work to be done. Of all the levels of government, local is the most immediate: the place where policy becomes pavement, where planning shapes a neighborhood, where a student can observe, contribute, and actually see the results. Meaningful work and meaningful change are reality in local government. The opportunities listed here are an invitation into that work.

Student Internship Opportunities – Summer 2026

Internships run approximately June 15 – August 14, 2026 (8 weeks) with compensation of $15–$21/hour.
Housing: Financial Support and on-campus housing may be available for students interning in the Lehigh Valley. Additional stipend resources exist for placements outside the Lehigh Valley.
Credit: Students may earn one course of academic credit while being paid (one-time per Lafayette career).

For more information on the internships or questions on the process, contact Nicole Beckett, Associate Director for Public Service via email at beckettn@lafayette.edu
